Opening Hours
The reception area is open from 8.30 am to 6.30 pm Monday to Friday. We are closed at weekends and on all public holidays.

We have extended our opening hours. On Mondays, and Tuesdays a few routine appointments are available with a GP from 7am. There are also appointments available on Mondays between 6.30 and 7.30pm. Please note that nurse appointments are not available, and the reception telephone will not be on.

Out of Hours
If you or your family need urgent medical care when the surgery is closed, please phone the usual daytime telephone number (9858822) and your call will be re-directed to the out-of-hours service.

Telephone Advice
The best time to call the surgery for advice is after morning clinics, usually between 11.30 and 12 noon. If the doctor you wish to speak to is still busy they will call you back, provided you leave a phone number, preferably a land line.

Registration

The surgery is able to accept new patients at present.

Training

Every two months the practice will be closed on  a Tuesday afternoon to allow protected staff training time. We need to  do this to keep up with changes and developments which affect the practice.  On these afternoons the phones will be switched off for up to five hours, reception may be closed, and any urgent needs will be directed to the out of hours service

The next dates are February 14th and 28th

Why not try our automated arrivals screen next time you come in for an appointment?!

Our current registrar is Dr David Simpson who started on the 3rd August. He will be with us until August 2012 .

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE CURRENTLY ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS

The GPs have decided that the practice will take part in the "Summary care record".

This means that patients records can be viewed by health personnel in other parts of the country, and may help if you need tratment away from home. The only parts of your record which will be available are medication and any allergies or adverse reactions. If you DO NOT wish you records to be uploaded to the national spine then you need to let us know, if you haven't already. You can change your mind at any time.

We want all our patients to be able to get through to us when they need to, and avoid the frustration of an engaged telephone. We therefore ask that unless your problem is urgent and you need an appointment that morning, please DO NOT phone between 8.30am and 9.30am.

For results, in particular, we suggest that you phone in the afternoon, when the surgery can be a little quieter and the phone lines less busy

We have an automated arrivals screen, situated just before you reach the reception desk. Please feel free to record your arrival for your appointment on the screen. It is very user friendly. We hope this will give the receptionists more time to help with queries and booking appointments

We will now offer a few routine appointments on Mondays, and Tuesdays with a GP, from 7am, and on Mondays from 6.30 to 7.30pm. These can be booked in the usual way.

How You Can Help Us sherwood health centre

 Patients can help us by:

  • Turning up on time for appointments
  • Avoid phoning us first thing in the morning, unless your need is urgent
  • Being patient if the doctor or nurse is running late
  • Only requesting home visits if you are too ill to attend surgery
  • Letting us know if you cannot keep your appointment
  • Telling us if you change your name, address or phone number
