Those attending:- Tony Stock, Magrit Mitchell, Martin Sanderson, Laura Archer, Charlie Wilson, Suzanna von Schaick, Derek Huett, Sue Tribe, Dr Irfan Malik and Justyna Pawlaczyk.
Suzanna notified us that we will have a stall at the next Hub. It will be held on Friday 26th of this month, between 1 and 3pm, in the Indian Community Centre on Hucknall Road.
PPG members of the Sheraton Park surgery will attend. One of our aims is to encourage all visitors to support their PPG.
Another aim is to finalise a date with Steve White, our PCN head, who should be there.
Irfan explained that PPGs would be invited to meetings with the LMP (Local Medical Committee) , an independent organisation which represents all local GPs within the NHS.
One topic for discussion might be patient capacity within practices. Tony felt the NHS must have enough data within their past records to know how many patients each surgery has to handle.
However it was felt that the various components were constantly in flux.
We discussed the current physiotherapist we have “in house” and is very busy and popular, as are our other social prescribers.
We do have an issue with the time taken to get blood tests. We are missing a staff member but they should be back in a month or so and normal service will be resumed.
At the beginning of June we will add another nurse. She is an ex-district nurse and highly regarded by Justyna!
The practice aims to treat patients as quickly as possible and having The Woodthorpe Hospital so close to us on Mansfield Road is a great advantage.
Justyna felt the staff situation currently was very good. The new receptionists have settled in very well. We know that handling the general public can be “trying”,
but two of the ladies have previous experience in the retail trade so are skilled in handling “customers”.
We also have two registrars being trained currently. However this is not new as we have had such trainees over past decades.
Tony related two incidents regarding the availability of the “Shingles Jab”. The content of the inoculation itself has changed. Happily all was well.
The phone system was raised again. One member had “crackling” on the line which made it unable to hold a conversation.
Justyna explained that we are getting a new system – a big improvement on the current one.
Another member was unhappy that the minutes of our meetings didn’t seem to be kept up-to-date on our email.
(Certainly the minutes of the meeting before this one, were very late in reaching the surgery for issuing – my fault!)
It will be looked into – and monitored.
Finally, our next meeting will be on Friday 31st May at 2pm.
